Anambra Pillars Football Club History
Anambra Pillars Football Club is one of Nigeria’s popular football club formerly known as Power United and was established in the year 2005 with Chuba Ikpeazu Memorial Stadium as their playfield and training ground for soccer tournament while at home.
The football club is situated in Onitsha, one of the industrious cities in Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole, the club has been noted to have been gaining one level promotion every year they played in the Nigerian professional league.
Prior to the club participating in Nigeria professional league matches, there had once played in Division 3 of Nigeria Amateur League.
But “every year promotion” was actually cut short in the year 2008 when the club had little challenges in finances which made them lose that year promotion to the professional Nigerian National League.
In the year 2009, the club won their Division by one point which escalated them finally to professional ranks, but this roughly occurred after changing the club changed their name from Power United Football Club to its present-day name - Anambra Pillars.
The club’s current chairman is passionate to see that the club moves to another dimension. The club has received so many awards since its existence because of the outstanding skills they exhibit while playing matches both national and local tournaments.
